Kakka Irachi Thoran


  • Clam meet - 2 cups
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - As needed
  • Coconut Oil - 3 tsp
  • Mustard - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry Leaves - Few Springs
  • Sliced Onion - 1 large
  • Chopped Green Chillies - 2 No’s
  • Ginger (Crushed) - 1 small piece
  • Garlic(Crushed) - 4 pods

For Grinding :

  • Grated Coconut - 1 cup
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Chilly Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Curry Leaves - As needed
  • Salt - As needed


Add turmeric powder and salt as needed to clam meat and mix them well and keep aside.

Make a mesh of ingredients including grated coconut, turmeric powder, chilly powder, curry leaves, salt as needed.

Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard and curry leaves. When the mustard breaks add sliced onion and chopped green chillies and sauté well. Add crushed ginger and crushed garlic to it and stir.

When the raw taste is change, add the previously prepared mesh to it. Add cooked clam meat to the mixture and cook further 5 minutes with lid closed. Sprinkle some water if required.

Remove lid after 5 minutes and cook till the dish is dry.

  Remove from heat. Serve it with rice
